Hello, I'm Val!
This is such an exciting time for you and your fiancé, and I’m so glad you’ve found me! I’m Valerie, the red-headed photographer behind Valerie Miles Photography. Since I believe that getting to know my clients is the #1 way to ensure an awesome experience, I’d love to tell you a little about myself. Here are a few things you should know:
A Quick Introduction
- I’m bilingual (English and French) and I grew up in the suburbs of Orleans ON and I’m now learning and loving the country lifestyle, just 15 minutes east of where I spent my childhood
- I’ve been with my high school sweetheart Stefan for 14 years and we became first time homeowners in Sarsfield ON in 2016
- We don’t have kids, but we do have one spoiled senior dachshund named Eddie and a kitten named Sumo. They're effortlessly hilarious and best friends for life.
- I started my photography business in 2011, the same year I graduated from the photography program at Algonquin College in Ottawa
- I’m slightly obsessed with houseplants, John Mayer, and pizza
- I’ve photographed 150+ weddings
- I love creating beautiful images but more importantly, I love serving couples on one of the greatest days of their lives. I seriously have the best job in the world!

The Wedding Experience
my philosophy
I’m sure your mind is racing with all that needs to be planned. It’s all very exciting but it can also be kind of overwhelming. You’re planning the day that you’ve been anticipating your whole life and yet you only get one shot at it. By the time you get the hang of it, the planning is over. My goal as your wedding photographer is to make this one aspect of the planning process simple. Photography is more than just images, it’s a real part of your day. Not only do you deserve beautiful images, you also deserve an amazing photographic experience. When my couples feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, that results in genuine, happiness-filled images. You know, the kind of images that give you total heart eyes when you look back at them! When I think back on some of my own important life milestones, I can remember amazing memories.... but most of the moments I remember really well are the instances that were captured in pictures. They are priceless to me. Your wedding day is an experience from beginning to end and your photography is a huge part of that experience..... shouldn’t it be fun? and enjoyable? and natural? I think so! My goal is to not only capture memories for my clients, it’s to create an experience that they will never forget.
the process
One way I ensure that my couples enjoy the BEST photographic experience possible is through forming a genuine relationship with them. I try my best to make sure that all of my couples are the PERFECT fit for me before officially booking. A bride and groom should connect with their photographer, trust their photographer and be EXCITED about the whole process with them. After booking, I love getting to know my clients through an ENGAGEMENT SESSION that helps them warm up to the camera so that they are ready to rock their photos on the wedding day. By the time the wedding day arrives, my clients feel more like friends and that creates a safe and relaxed environment for photography. 1. booking & planning
Before making things official, I like to take the time to meet and chat with you and your fiance so that I can answer your questions and we can chat about your wedding day plans. If you think we may be a good fit, send me a message on my contact page and we can set up a consultation over Zoom.
Once you and your fiancé are ready to book, we will seal the deal with a contract and deposit. Then the fun really begins!
I will send you your very own copy of the Wedding Experience Guide! It's 75+ pages of wedding planning goodness that comes from nearly a DECADE of photographing weddings that ONLY my couples get to have. My couples RAVE about this guide, and I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of OBSESSED with it too!
2. Engagement session
I include engagement sessions in The Wedding and Elopement Experience because I truly believe that they are a VITAL part of the entire photography process.
During your engagement session, you’ll have the chance to get to know me, experience how I shoot and how I handle posing and lighting. This session will make a HUGE impact on how the wedding day flows.
I’ll arrive on your wedding day already knowing how you two interact, what your best poses are and how to photograph you in a genuine way. What I will learn about you during your engagement session is invaluable. You will feel like such a pro on your big day because of the great practice you had during your engagement session, and that’s how it should be!
3. your wedding/elopement day!
By the time your wedding day comes around, together we've already planned out everything so that you can make the most out of your photography investment.
My goal as your photographer is to make sure that you get to enjoy your first day of marriage to it's fullest AND walk away with photos that you are STILL obsessed with even decades later!
4. gallery delivery
You will receive your online gallery of images about 6-8 weeks after your wedding day. This is when you get to relive your wedding day again and again through photos!
In just minutes, you will be able to download and share your edited collection of photos. From the click of a button, you can share your online gallery with friends and family so they too can relive your dreamy wedding day too.
Also, I believe that photos are meant to be shared, so you are welcome to post your photos to social media if you want!
5. album design
If you've chosen to invest in a Legacy Album, we will work together to create amazing spreads of your most favourite images from your engagement session, as well as your wedding day.

Pricing GUIDE
A non-refundable booking fee of $1,500 + HST and a signed contract
are required to reserve your wedding date.
This amount paid will be applied to the wedding package of your choice.
